Special Fund Raiser (3/2/16) Next Friday, March 11, is a casual day for the parish food pantry. In addition to the canned good you send with your child, I would like to ask that you also send $1 with them, if you are able. The money we collect will be donated to the Armbrust Family to help them with bills and expenses while their son, Brendan, is in the hospital. As you may already know, Brendan was involved in a very serious accident in early February when he was hit by a truck as he attempted to cro...ss Broadway Street. He sustained critical injuries and is still in the hospital, dealing with multiple surgeries and attempting to recover. More information about Brendan’s cause can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/dnnzpu6w.
A special thank you goes to CCS parent Jennie Malerich for bringing this cause to our attention and suggesting this fundraiser.
Not only will Friday, March 11, be a casual day for students, but they may wear their favorite hat on that day as well. Thank you as always for your continued generosity!

Christmas Bazaar Totals (1/18/15) School Club provided me with the financial total for this year’s Christmas Bazaar, and I wanted to pass it along. Net profit was $8,823. This is down $720 from last year, in part, due to increased food costs and donations to the Cookie Corner being down some from previous years. Other areas of the Bazaar, such as raffle ticket sales, saw an increase from last year. Overall, it was another successful Christmas Bazaar, due to great efforts of School Club, CCS staff and students, and all who volunteered their time and energy.
Each year, from Christmas Bazaar proceeds and from the income of its other fundraisers, School Club puts these funds to work on behalf of Carroll School. The list of what School Club provides for the school is lengthy and ongoing, including:

Thank you on behalf of the students and the mission of Carroll Catholic School!
St. Thomas School Supplies (11/19/15) Carroll Catholic School is accepting donations of basic school supplies for the students of St. Thomas Primary School in Tanzania, Africa. For the past several Lenten seasons, CCS families have generously donated to the general maintenance of the school. But for the students fortunate enough to attend St. Thomas, many lack even the most basic of supplies: pencils, crayons, and paper – things our students are able to take for granted. Your generosity will enable St. Thomas’ students to attend school in a more dignified, hopeful manner.
School supplies or monetary donations can be dropped off at the CCS office through the end of the school year. Love Repeated, a local organization working on behalf of those in need in east Africa, will send the school supplies with its upcoming shipment of medical supplies. More information about Love Repeated and its mission may be found at www.loverepeated.org.

The drawdown will take place on Friday, November 20, at the Knights of Columbus hall, beginning with dinner at 6:00 p.m.

First Quarter Honor Roll (10/30/15) Congratulations to the students who made the honor roll for the first quarter. Of all the students in grades three to eight, sixty-nine percent made the honor roll! Keep up the great work.
Continued School Growth (10/20/15) The Office of Catholic Schools recently sent a report to the principals of the Diocese of Peoria. The report listed the rate of growth for each school since the 2013-2014 school year. I am pleased to report that Carroll Catholic School topped that list of 44 schools with an increase in student enrollment of 54% over the past two school years! Our rate of growth from last school year to this year is 29%. We appreciate greatly those families who have entrusted their children to CCS, and I would like to commend the school's faculty and staff who continue to foster the spiritual and academic growth of this ever increasing number of students.
Odd Fellows Grant (10/16/15) Carroll Catholic School was the recipient of a $3,000 grant from the Illinois IOOF Youth Activities Promotion Fund. The purpose of the grant is to promote physical activity among children. Carroll School will use the grant to purchase basketball and cheerleading uniforms. The school would like to offer special thanks to Darlene Wick, Don and Janis Klockenga, and Lincoln Odd Fellows Lodge #204 for their assistance in securing this grant.
Honor Roll Recognition (10/14/15) As a way to recognize the efforts of our students and the teachers who foster their success, I will personally donate $1 to the CCS Teacher Fund for each student on the Honor Roll each quarter.

Thank you, Mrs. Buse! (10/13/15) October 12-16 is National School Lunch Week. I'd like to recognize the great work that Kathy Buse does as the head of our school cafeteria. Mrs. Buse works very hard to prepare meals that are both popular with students and nutritious. She cares about the students and this shows in the time and effort she puts into each meal every day. Thank you, Mrs. Buse!
Bedtime Math (10/9/15) A new study led by University of Chicago psychologists and published in Science shows Bedtime Math significantly boosts kids’ math performance. Within just one school year, kids who did Bedtime Math several times each week improved their math achievement on average by three months more than children who didn’t. Bedtime Math is an app that pairs reading passages with math related questions. Perhaps best of all, it can help to lessen a student's anxiety about math (and maybe parents' math anxiety as well), while further promoting parents and children spending time together.

Proceeds from the magazine drive account for one-fourth of the school’s annual athletics budget. Please see any CCS student to order magazines for yourself or to give as a gift. Your participation in this fundraiser helps to ensure that our athletics/activities program remains as viable and successful as ever. Thank you as always for your support of Carroll Catholic School and its student athletes!

Welcome Back! (8/21/15) I would like to welcome to Carroll Catholic School our new students and families and to welcome back those returning to CCS. The first day of school went wonderfully, filled with excitement and enthusiasm: a great start to what I know is going to be a great year.
CCS Teacher Fund (8/18/15) - At the heart of Carroll Catholic School are its great teachers. Our ability to provide students with a worthy and lasting education rests on the strength of our faculty.
The CCS Teacher Fund was established to provide the financial means to recognize and support our teachers today who are doing great things in the classroom and to continue to attract the best teachers in the future. And a school succeeds on the strength of more than just a great faculty; so the Teacher Fund is designed to reward our other high quality employees as well, such as the secretary, janitor, and cook.
